Ms. Gusdorff took a non-traditional path to appellate law, receiving her bachelors degree with academic honors from the New England Conservatory of Music (Trumpet Performance). After receiving her juris doctorate in 2006 from Loyola Law School, where she served as an editor of the Loyola Law Review, Ms. Gusdorff immersed herself in the appellate process with Marilee Marshall & Associates, Inc. Seeking to expand her knowledge base and experience, in 2007 Ms. Gusdorff joined the prestigious civil appellate firm, Pine & Pine, where she focused exclusively on civil appeals and writs involving seven- and eight- figure judgments.
In 2014, Ms. Gusdorff founded the appellate boutique, Gusdorff Law, P.C. to help trial attorneys focus on what they do best, and enable plaintiffs to hold onto their hard-fought victories and challenge unjust rulings. In addition to helping her clients retain their verdicts, Ms. Gusdorff braves and wins hard fights; she has repeatedly successfully beat the odds in reversing summary judgment rulings.
The legal community has recognized Ms. Gusdorff’s ethics and aptitude. Law & Politics has repeatedly named Janet Gusdorff a Southern California “Rising Star,” an honor that is reserved for only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state. Ms. Gusdorff was selected to the Super Lawyers “Up-and-Coming 100: Southern California Rising Stars” List, as well as its “Up-and-Coming 50: Women Southern California Rising Stars” list in both 2019 and 2021.
